  15. As I mentioned before, if people are interested, we would consider 
  16. writing a non-Geneva specific ACC/PRG version of our help system. It 
  17. would not take much, as it is already done. It supports multiple fonts 
  18. (no separate font loader needed), hypertext jumps, compressed help files, 
  19. Atari Clipboard, etc. Anyone with access to Geneva should be pretty 
  20. familiar with this.

  22. Currently in-house we have two versions of it:

  24. 1. Window based, PRG version that is used in Geneva. Program running under
  25. the Geneva environment does not bother to launch a help system, just
  26. passes its help file to the Geneva Help system.

  28. 2. Window based, PRG non-Geneva version. This is built into NeoDesk 4 and
  29. is executed when the user calls for help inside another multitasking
  30. environment or when they are using dialogs in a window.

  32. 2.1 This non-Geneva version can also execute in a dialog (without a 
  33. window) for when the user calls for help from a static dialog box. This 
  34. is especially important in non-multitasking systems. It looks the same, 
  35. but the execution is different.

  37. It would be very easy to compile the non-Geneva version to also work as an
  38. ACC and document its pipeline documentation. Developers would first check
  39. to see if it is already installed (either because the user is running 
  40. Geneva, because it is already running in memory, or as an ACC) before 
  41. launching an additional copy of it. Obviously, if it is already running 
  42. in memory, they just pass it the help file.
